Origin: China.
Botanical characteristics: It is a medium-sized semi-persistent shrub, with ascending branches and spreading growth habit. Leaves are closely oval-shaped, toothed, purple when young, then green and finally, in autumn and winter, red-bronze. In summer it bears white flowers in flat umbrellas. Fruits are red at first and then black.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It adapts to any fertile and moist soil, but well-drained.
Use: It is used both in flowerbeds and mixed hedges.
