Origin: North East Asia.
Botanical characteristics: It is a large fast-growing evergreen shrub with erect growth habit. Leaves are large, up to 20 cm long, from oblong to lanceolate, wrinkled, dark green and shiny on the upper side, grey and downy below. From May to June, it blooms small creamy-white flowers in umbrella-shaped tops. Fruits are oval and red at first, then black.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It adapts to any fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It is suitable for calcareous soils, too.
Use: It is ideal for free hedgerows, mixed hedges, in flowerbeds and in groups.
