Origin: Caucasus, Northern Iran.
Botanical characteristics: It is a large deciduous tree, vigorous, up to 30 m high, with low trunk, dense branching and spreading crown. It has a deeply furrowed bark. Leaves are uneven, up to 60 cm long. and more, they are composed of 7-27 sessile oval-shaped, finely toothed, dark green shiny leaflets. It is a monoecious plant with male and female inflorescences in green catkins on the same plant. The female inflorescences give rise to infructescenses from 30 to 50 cm long formed by nuts supplied with a green wing of about 2 cm.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It is cultivated on deep, fertile and moist but well-drained soil with full sun exposure.
Use: It is used as ornamental plant for large gardens and parks, mainly as isolated specimen.
