Origin: Italy.
Botanical characteristics: It is a male clone with columnar or fastigiate growth habit. It has upright branches close to the trunk.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It prefers cool, deep and permeable soils but has no particular requirements. Full sun exposure is required. It has an high degree of resistance to water stagnation and pollution and a good one as regards saltiness.
Use: In the past it was planted along country roads or rows in farming areas and was the typical tree-lined road in the garden of Villa Veneta. It is mainly used as windbreak and is ideal for coastal areas. Moreover, it is used along roads, paths and channels. It works excellently as shield to conceal buildings. It is used singly, in groups, in rows in parks and gardens and in urban green spaces because of its resistance to pollution.
