Origin: Japan, Korea.
Botanical characteristics: It is a deciduous tree with rounded and very spreading crown. It has large lobed leaves that are deeply carved and ribbed, bright green and shiny on the upper surface, darker on the lower one and are similar to the Plane tree.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It prefers moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soils. It can adapt to poor, calcareous soils. It has an high resistance to drought and air pollution and a good resistance to saltiness.
Use: It is used as a shade plant in parks and gardens or in urban green spaces for avenues and parking lots. It is interesting for resort marine areas.
