Origin: Central and Southern Europe

Botanical characteristics: It is a small slow growing tree with spreading crown. The trifoliate leaves consist of elliptical and pointed dark green leaflets, which are hairy on the lower surface. In May the showy blooming consist of pendulous clusters of yellow flowers that are up to 30 cm long and are followed by legumes.

Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It can be found on the hilly broad-leaved woodland and it adapts to all types of soils, including dry and calcareous ones.

Use: It is used in parks and gardens as an ornamental plant for its flowers, both singly and in mixed hedge. It is suitable for rural hedges; on gentle slopes.
