Origin: Northern Hemisphere.
Botanical characteristics: It is an evergreen conifer with shrub-like or tree-like growth habit with straight branches. The leaves are linear, pointed, with a clear streak on the upper surface, they are arranged in three bluish green whorls. The fruit seems like an aromatic pseudo-berry , initially green and blue-violet when ripe.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It can be found on dry grazing lands and forests in the peninsula and in the Alps up to an altitude of 1500 mt It is able to adapt to any well drained soil, even dry and sandy.
Use: It is used individually or combined with other conifers in rocky gardens or in order to reforest the barren slopes.
