Origin: England.

Botanical features: It is a cultivar with large leaves that are intense red-purple-coloured in spring. Leaves remain red purple in summer and it has reddish flowers and fruits.

Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It prefers deep, fresh and fertile soils, calcareous ones as well. It needs cool and wet summers.

Use: It has an impressive effect as isolated species in parks and in large gardens.
