Botanical characteristics: It is a deciduous shrub with upright branches turning reddish in autumn-winter. Leaves are opposite, ovate and turn red in autumn. Summer flowering consists of small white flowers produced in flat umbel. Flowering is followed by drupes that are blackish when ripe.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It is a wild plant that can be found in forests of hardwoods and hedges. It adapts to all kinds of soils.
Use: It is used for reforestation, hedges, mixed hedges and scrubs.
