Botanical characteristics: It is a medium-sized deciduous fast-growing tree with a compact pyramidal-shaped crown. It has quite narrow crown when it is young, then expands from the base. Leaves fall in autumn.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It is a species which was part of the the vegetal group in the Po valley called Quercus-Carpinetum, together with oaks. It lives in lowland forests, rarely on hills, on fresh rich well-drained soils. It also adapts to calcareous and clayish ones.
Use: It is suitable for small gardens and narrow places. Its used as a single plant or in groups of 3. It can be pruned to get a tree form.
