Origin: Europe.

Botanical characteristics: It is an erect shrub up to 3 m high. It has oval shaped leaves with toothed margin and truncate base which are dull green on upper side and shiny yellow-green on the lower one. Fruits are ovoid and 2 cm long.

Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It is the main component of subalpine bushes on wet slopes between 600 and 2300 mt of altitude.

Use: It is suitable for poor soils, for environmental restoration and reforestation.
