Botanical characteristics: It is smaller than the A. Pseudoplatanus. Leaves have a red petioles and they are dark purple on the lower side. Samaras are red, too.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It resists cold, drought and pollution. It adapts to any soil, including calcareous ones.
Use: It is used along the streets, in parking lots and urban areas because of its excellent resistance to urban pollution. It is rarely used in private gardens. It is suitable for the afforestation of barren areas and embankments, since they have a deep and extensive root system. It is quite suitable for wet soils.
