Botanical characteristics: It is the most popular Japanese maple in gardens. Cultivars of A. palmatum with upright and well branched, deeply lobed leaves colored purple throughout the year.
Agronomic and environmental characteristics: The Japanese maples are very demanding in terms of soil, prefering fresh soils, loose, moist but well drained and slightly acidic, do not tolerate heavy soils with stagnant water and limestone. They prefer a position of partial shade, sheltered from strong winds. They are sensitive to frost.
Use: It is mostly used as an ornamental plant both alone and in groups, both in large parks and in small gardens. To be put it in the meadows, in flower beds or rock gardens;it is also suitable for growing in pots and planters.
